My Way or the Highway!

What a crappy attitude and outlook has commandeered the public discourse of the day. I have sometimes posted comments or sent along videos on Facebook, and have been creamed for it. I've been called a racist, a bigot, a hater, a self-righteous jackass. Now mind you, I've not posted anything like that, but because someone has a viewpoint different than mine, I'm labeled with vicious, demeaning descriptors. An example was posting something that said if you can protest or riot in person, your can vote in person. It was a VOTING issue I was bringing up. Whoa, did that unleash the comments. A number of people, some I don't know very well, hijacked the comments and away we go...hater, bigot, what are you doing to change the world, etc. The fight then starts between the people commenting on my post! My point today is this... If you disagree with me or anyone else, especially on social media, please use comments that contain facts and not conjecture, none of the "your...

I'm Not OK and You're Not OK

Back in the 1960's, a book was published, titled, I'm Ok, You're Ok.  It sold about 15 million copies. People rushed to read the new way to get along with others, understand yourself and work your way through the psychological underpinnings of the day. Today, we have violent protests, riots, killings, human trafficking, domestic abuse, bribery, graft, corruption, sex, alcohol and drugs in Middle Schools etc. Shall I go on? Hmm, if anyone one hasn't noticed...it's not working because, "I'm Not Ok and You're Not Ok"! There is one basic tenet that most of the "thinkers" of the day have forgotten...the human nature is broken. And not because God broke it. The disobedience of Adam caused the separation from the perfection of God, thus the imperfection of man. People see the corrosion of behavior, so they pass a law. That ends up with loop holes, so they pass another law. Laws won't change your broken nature. They may hold you in ch...

A World Gone Mad

Yikes-it's been a long time since I've posted. Lots going on in life. Both hips replaced at the local VA Hospital. Had outstanding care and results. Back in the fight, so to speak. Our world is a bit in turmoil, ya' think! Some are wondering how we got here, from the coronavirus pandemic to the riots and looting in our streets. I don't wonder at all. We have kicked God and all His holy principles out of the center of our families, community, state and nation. We are told that we are to keep our spiritual lives to ourselves. Now stop and think on that for a minute. As a Pagan, or Wiccan, you can voice your beliefs, but anything to do with God...you have to keep that "private". I, for one, don't want Christian principles to be "private". I want integrity, sexual purity, sobriety, service before self and excellence in all we do to be shouted from the roof tops; to be taught in every family and schoolroom. But there is a bit of a problem her...

You're Fighting the Wrong Guy!

Whew-what a ride this has been!! Since I was last on here, I've had a couple of hips replaced at the VA Hospital. Great work they did, great care and great results. I'm back at it...so watch out snowflakes!! As anyone who is alive and fairly awake on this planet, you may be noticing quite a shouting match going on between "liberal" and "conservative" ideation and the people espousing those ideas. Now let me remind you folks...stop fighting each other. That's the wrong enemy. That old devil is having a field day in this country right now. The battle over abortion, gender identity, immigration, elections, family values, alternate life styles, gun control, mass shootings. Did I wake up on Mars? Unbeknownst (Duh, look it up) to many young ones today, that is not the America in which I grew up. I walked from the projects where I lived, to school at age 5, by myself, when I missed my little walking group. Try that without a police escort today! Most fa...

Liar, liar, pants on fire!

Wow-where do I begin! The news media are shouting such conflicting information; famous individuals continue to blatantly lie from "I did not have sex with that woman", to "I was beaten up by two white guys wearing MAGA hats"; Russia is threatening to bomb us if we station offensive weapons close by; the Pope is having meetings with the church's leadership about priests sexual sins and many of our young people are open to Socialism instead of Capitalism and the free market.   What planet did I wake up on (excuse the lazy grammar)? It's at times like these that I am ever grateful to have a direct line to Jesus Christ. Some may scoff at that, but our problem today is that we are bereft of the truth, in all of our settings. (Bereft-if you dropped out of school, or went to a public one...look it up. JK, JK!!)   Today, I'm shaking my head in disbelief as I hear some use the term, "my truth" Whaaat? It's either true or it's not true.....

Take Two Psalms and Call Me in the Morning

Been awhile folks...so listen up.   When we feel sick, we sometimes call the doctor and explain what ails us. The doctor may say to, "Take two Motrin and call me in the morning". To get the relief we seek, we follow the instructions and call in the results.   When we are not doing well spiritually, we need to do the same. Sin (don't wince at that word, you little snowflake!), makes us sick, weak, ineffective and spoils the soul. The Word of God is sharper than a two edged sword and can cut through some of our pain, grief and darkness better than any pain meds. Jesus came to give us life and that more abundantly.   With our Great Physician, we have a "standing prescription" which can be refilled as necessary: Sad- take John 14 Need Reassurance- take Psalm 145:18-20 Stuck in sin -take Psalm 51 Insecure- take Psalm 121:1-3 Facing danger- take Psalm 91 Disappointed in people- take Psalm 27 God feels far away- take Psalm 139 Fearful- take Psalm ...

Suck it up, Buttercup...no pain, no gain!

God gives us a command that sounds pretty stupid. He says to rejoice in suffering. Whaaat? The command to rejoice in suffering doesn't mean you sweep the pain under the rug and pretend it's not there, duh! The whole idea of suffering being part of the earthly experience is unfathomable to say the least. Why any at all? Heaven's perfection assures no suffering there, but here we have to face it head on. And Jesus has the audacity to tell us to face it...wait for it, wait for it...with rejoicing!   Right about here is where a lot of people stop reading, but please don't. We tend to look only at the suffering part but God is more interested in the product than in the loss and suffering: perseverance, character and hope. That's a pretty good deal when you think of it. It's not the pain you rejoice in, it's not the difficulty, challenge or loss you rejoice in; it's the knowing that the opportunity for growth afforded by the suffering is to be celebrated....
