Take Two Psalms and Call Me in the Morning

Been awhile folks...so listen up.
 
When we feel sick, we sometimes call the doctor and explain what ails us. The doctor may say to, "Take two Motrin and call me in the morning". To get the relief we seek, we follow the instructions and call in the results.
 
When we are not doing well spiritually, we need to do the same. Sin (don't wince at that word, you little snowflake!), makes us sick, weak, ineffective and spoils the soul. The Word of God is sharper than a two edged sword and can cut through some of our pain, grief and darkness better than any pain meds. Jesus came to give us life and that more abundantly.
 
With our Great Physician, we have a "standing prescription" which can be refilled as necessary:
  • Sad-take John 14
  • Need Reassurance-take Psalm 145:18-20
  • Stuck in sin-take Psalm 51
  • Insecure-take Psalm 121:1-3
  • Facing danger-take Psalm 91
  • Disappointed in people-take Psalm 27
  • God feels far away-take Psalm 139
  • Fearful-take Psalm 47
  • Feel faith sagging-take Hebrews 11
  • Alone and scared-take Psalm 23
  • Worried-take Matthew 8:19-27
  • Feel hurt-take 1 Corinthians 13
  • Losing hope-take Psalm 126
  • Bank account empty-take Psalm 37
  • Need peace-take Matthew 11:25-30
  • Need courage-take Joshua 1
  • Depressed-take Psalm 27
See, that wasn't so bad. So don't just sit there and suffer, take the cure...in Jesus and His Word!

Shoot Those Squirrels!

  SQUIRREL!! Do you spend dedicated time alone with God, or are you “chasing squirrels”? It happens to all of us. You just get settled in a quiet place, you’re talking with the Lord, or just listening and the phone rings, or you think of the call you said you’d return, or the laundry that needs to go in the dryer…on and on.   If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that if you want wisdom, understanding and a good day…you better start it with some lone, non-squirrel time with the Lord! In that lone time, be ready to hear from God too. It’s not just a one-way conversation from you to Him. He will speak back to you, to show you, lead you, reveal something to you. You may not like that revelation either, so be prepared. I believe in tolerance...except with YOU!

Are people drinking crazy juice or something? Twitter, Facebook...you name it. All sorts of comments and stuff that make ZERO sense! Knock it off...get back to your work out!   People go busting windows, knocking people down, cutting them, beating them up and kicking them, all the while calling the poor slob on the ground who's head is being beaten in a "fascist". Is this a bad nightmare? What the heck!!   Really? Screaming for free speech for themselves but totally blocking others. That ain't gonna work. Nothing but bad times ahead if that doesn't stop.   So, whutchu lookin' at...just standing there. Where's your prayer life for wisdom as to what to say or do? Where's your random acts of kindness, your volunteering in a local school or at a local hospital.
